Nerds

Originally released in 1983, Nerds were recognized as "Candy of the Year" by the National Candy Wholesalers Association only two years later, what a helluva start to one of North America's MOST beloved candies! Nerds have been a staple ever since in their distinctive packaging with separate compartments for each kind, cycling through more than a few mouth-watering flavours over the years.  

Fun Fact:  As shown on an episode of Unwrapped, Nerds start off as a plain white sugar crystal, which is then coated over and over and OVER (and on and on...) with sugar until a Nerd is formed, then the colour is applied to each unique flavour. Kind of like a candy pearl.
